LBM Advantage CEO Stephen Sallah.
With lumber prices off the charts, due to supply shortages and a DIY craze during the COVID-19 crisis, CBS 4 in Miami (WFOR-TV) recently put together a news piece focusing on how home improvement is thriving.
While the report includes feedback from homeowners and local deck builder MG Construction & Decks, CBS 4 turned to Stephen Sallah, CEO of LBM Advantage - the lumber and forest products buying group - for information about the lumber situation.
“The do-it-yourself market went crazy and then eventually the construction picked back up again and we saw record levels of construction across the country right now, and that put a real tight squeeze on the supply of lumber,” Sallah told CBS 4.
And the lumber shortage trend could continue for some time, according to Sallah. He says wood prices have tripled in some regions and mills might not ship new orders until October.
