Now it’s taking on a new banner — Mead Lumber.

The name change and rebranding took effect Aug. 26, and marks the continuation of an effort toward consolidating Mead Lumber’s identity under a single brand. In 2022, Triple “S” was acquired by Mead, the Omaha, Nebraska-based building materials supplier with 53 locations in nine states.

Started in 1988 in Butte, Montana, by Milo Stordahl, Triple “S” swiftly became a leader in western Montana, earning a reputation for its dedication to customer satisfaction, the company said. Over the last several years, Milo’s sons, Doug and Dave Stordahl, were co-owners of Triple “S” and lead it to its current growth and position in the market.

"While the name is changing, it's important to emphasize that everything our customers value—the people, products, and service—will remain the same," said Dave Anderson, president and CEO of Mead Lumber. “We're thrilled to begin this new chapter in Butte and can't wait to celebrate this significant milestone with the community.”
