The latest numbers from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
11/4/2022

Analysts were expecting 195,000 new jobs in the monthly employment report released Friday morning. We got 261,000.

Still, the unemployment rate rose slightly to 3.7 percent in October, up from 3.6 percent in the previous month. A year ago, the unemployment rate stood at 4.6 percent.

Among the details from the Bureau of Labor Statistics:

• There was little month-to-month change reported in construction or retail trade.

• Manufacturing added 32,000 jobs in October, mostly in durable goods industries (+23,000). Manufacturing employment has increased by an average of 37,000 per month thus far this year compared with 30,000 per month in 2021.

The latest update of the Quikrete Industry Dashboard also shows stock prices – based on Nov. 3 prices — all over the grid. Deere has emerged as the front runner, up nearly 15 percent for the month, and up more than 10 percent for the year.
