A month ago, The Consumer Confidence Index stood at 97.5 (1985=100). The latest reading from the New York-based Conference Board shows an improvement to 102.0.

Elsewhere on the updated Quikrete Industry Dashboard, all 10 sticker symbols tracked on the Stock Watch are in positive territory for the year, led by Beacon, which is up 44.8 percent. However, six of the 10 are in negative territory for the month. Builders FirstSource, which had been flying high, is down 124 percent.

Elsewhere on the board of metrics, The American Automobile Association reported the average price for a gallon of regular stands at $3.57. That's down a penny from a year ago.
