Blue is the color of reflection and serenity – two emotions that veterans and military families embrace on Veterans Day. Creating a blue wreath this Thurs., Nov. 11, is one way to show that emotion.
Lowe’s has partnered with several DIY creators and military families who can help inspire how to bring the patriotic creation to life, even personalizing them for their loved ones who have served.
One military wife who donated a photo to Lowe’s said, “we created a wreath of appreciation for our hero and all of the heroes around us by going blue with our front door wreath.”
For the first time, Lowe’s will honor U.S. military service members and families by encouraging households to create and display a blue wreath on their door this Veterans Day, as a simple, yet powerful, DIY gesture of thanks, the retailer noted.
Any wreath will do, the retailer said, whether it’s an old green one stowed in a garage or attic that can transform through a family DIY project with paint, or one made from wire and paper clips painted blue.
Lowe’s stores, its 300,000 associates, numerous DIY creators, and Lowe’s non-profit military partners are helping too.
For example, AMVETS will display blue wreaths at its posts nationwide. And the USO is building blue wreaths during Coffee Connections, a military spouse event series at its local centers.
For military families, who move every three years and eight times more than non-military families on average, the symbolic gesture can go a long way towards feeling welcomed to a new neighborhood or even back home from deployment abroad, the firm related.
This Veterans Day, Lowe’s invites families across the nation to add one more important wreath to their seasonal celebrations, and honor veterans and their families with this fun, family-friendly activity.
