San Francisco and New York City have already banned natural gas hookups in new building construction. And New York’s governor has a plan to ban gas stoves in new home and commercial construction by 2030.
Meanwhile, the head of the U.S. Consumer Product Safety recently raised the heat by suggesting that bans of gas stoves might be in order to reduce indoor air pollution. The alternative would be electric stoves.
On one hand, many scientists point to gas stoves as a contributor to asthma in children. On the other hand, homeowners prefer cooking with gas.
