Poll results: The starts survey
Residential construction stats in the month of February generated double-digit percent gains for both total and single-family housing starts.
But let’s not get carried away.
According to the NAHB’s Jing Fu, senior director of forecasting and analysis, added the following color to the data: “NAHB forecasts that single-family starts will remain effectively flat in 2025.” Multifamily, meanwhile “will remain soft in early 2025.”
This analysis was in keeping with the NAHB’s presentation at the International Builders’ Show.
Simpson Manufacturing CEO Mike Olosky said "in 2025 we believe a low single-digit recovery in U.S. housing starts is possible.“
Builders FirstSource is forecasting flat single-family starts for 2025 (at least for markets within its geographies), and multi-family starts down in the mid-teens.
Against that backdrop, HBSDealer readers responded to the annual housing starts forecast survey. The results reflect a cautious outlook.
