Poll question: Quitting time?
Has your business felt the sting of someone quitting out of the blue?
Interesting stat from the Labor Department: 4.4 million workers quit their jobs in the month of September. They weren’t fired, they quit. That’s the most ever recorded by the Labor Department in the 20 years of keeping track.
The challenge of finding employees in the hardware and building supply space has been well documented and frequently discussed. The unemployment rate for September was a scant 4.8%. It’s an ultra tight labor market. But are this industry’s yard workers, cashiers, marketers, managers, drivers, truss designers, merchants, accountants—and all other roles in the hardware and building supply business—voluntarily quitting their jobs?
This week’s poll question seeks your input on employee retention.
