Office supplies factor into adjacent-purchase trends.

Last year, 8% of kitchen and bath buyers also bought tools or office supplies in the same shopping trip. Over the course of the year, office supplies, small appliances, and lawn and garden were each purchased by 85% or more of kitchen and bath buyers. (Source: The NPD Group / Checkout)

“Meals, boredom, and home work spaces were among the biggest in-home challenges consumers faced over the past year,” said Joe Derochowski, Home Industry Advisor, The NPD Group. “As the consumer approaches a new kind of ‘normal’, understanding adjacent purchases will be just as important as watching your own category performance to get a complete picture of the consumer and their needs.”
