NLBMDA recommends Yates as At Large Director

In accordance with the NLBMDA bylaws a task group consisting of the NLBMDA President and CEO; the NLBMDA Chair; the LuDPAC Board of Trustees Chair; the Legislative Advocacy Committee Chair; and the Regulatory Codes and Standards Committee Chair convened and are recommending to the membership that Scott Yates, president of Denver Lumber, be the nominee to serve as the At Large Director.

The At Large Director will serve as a voting member of the NLBMDA Board of Directors.

NLBMDA Lumber Dealer Members are invited to cast their ballot to vote on the nomination of Scott Yates to serve as At Large Director by clicking here. The deadline to cast your vote is July 28.

Scott Yates is the president of the Denver Lumber Company. 

Born in 1957 in Denver, Colorado, he began his career at the Company in 1973. He worked all facets of the business until becoming the General Manager in 1986. Back in 2019, Scott began taking a role in the company’s daily operations while his son, Sam, is serving as the vice president and General Manager. Scott’s youngest son Garrett is serving as the company’s yard manager.  

Yates served as president of WOOD Inc in 1989, and president of Mountain States Lumber & Building Materials Association in 2000 and 2001. 

Yates also served as chair for the NLBMDA from October 2015 to October 2016. He has served as a member of the board of trustees for the Lumber Dealers Political Action Committee (LuDPAC) since 2007 and as Chair since 2011.

Yates graduated from Regis University in Denver. He has been married to Yvonne for over 38 years and they have three sons and five grandchildren.
