The latest episode of the National Lumber and Building Material Dealers Association’s (NLBMDA) Lumber Talks Podcast is now available.

In this episode, Senior Membership and Operations Associate Allison Ward is joined by Jacob Carter, NLBMDA’s director of government affairs for a Washington update briefing. The discussion will focus of the 2022 midterm elections and the outcomes of congressional balances of power.

Carter will be joined by a special guest, Josh Brandwein, a thought leader in the political sphere and the director of government affairs for several other associations.

In a member-only webinar last week, the NLBMDA provided analysis of the 2022 elections and priorities for 2023. The bottom line of the presentation was the Republican party came up a lot shorter than expected while a “red wave” never arrived.

Carter comes to NLBMDA from McKechnie & Co., a D.C. lobby firm, where he served as the primary liaison for numerous clients, developing and leveraging working relationships with Congress and regulatory agencies on a variety of issues, including tax policy, appropriations, housing, and transportation.

Prior to that, Carter represented multiple clients at Chambers, Conlon & Hartwell, a government relations firm that specialized in the transportation sector, where he led government affairs and grassroots initiatives for a railroad industry association.
