ZIP and state: 2018 remodeling estimates

5/31/2018
The National Association of Home Builders has compiled its latest remodeling estimates for 2018.

And the association has boiled it down to the ZIP code level.

The new estimates include the number of owner-occupied homes, the number with improvement spending during the year, the average spending per improved home, total spending on improvements within the ZIP code, and the drivers of remodeling activity used to generate the spending estimates, in each of over 26,000 5-digit ZIP code areas across the United States.

According to the NABH, in the average ZIP code, owners who improve their homes in 2018 will spend $7,893 per home.

The numbers fluctuate based on various regions of the country: in some areas spending is under $5,000 while it exceeds $11,000 in others. ZIP codes with the highest spending per improved home hover around metro areas, particularly in the Northeast.

Topping the list are Metro New York, Boston, and two ZIP codes in Fairfield County, Conn. Where projects run as much as $18,000.

The NAHB has also created a summary of the ZIP code listings by state.
