Working at Hancock Lumber
To better illustrate its company core values, Hancock Lumber has produced a video featuring employees at its sawmill in Bethel, Maine.
The video features 8 employees, including general manager Aaron Shulte, discussing the working environment at the mill along with the atmosphere promoted by Hancock Lumber.
“We want it to be a career path here, not just a job. We want people to grow within the company,” Shulte says in the video.
Hancock Lumber has won the “Best Places to Work in Maine” award for 4 consecutive years. The award is based on a statewide survey designed to identify, recognize and honor the best places of employment in Maine, benefiting the state’s economy, its workforce and businesses.
“Having engaged employees is essential to our success,” explains Bethel sawmill Manager Gary Easterling. “You can have people that come in, go to their machine center, do their job, and go home. But are they fulfilled at the end of the day?”
Employee engagement is among the core goals and mission values at Hancock Lumber, along with safety, customer intimacy, efficiency, community, and pride.
Additional employee interviews discussing the work culture at Hancock Lumber can viewed in the video via YouTube.
