Whirlpool issues sustainability report
Benton Harbor, Mich.-based appliance manufacturer Whirlpool has announced the release of the company’s first global comprehensive sustainability report.
The company also produces an annual report, which it is making publicly available for the first time to communicate its commitment to environmental performance with its stakeholders.
“The company continually strives to understand and manage the environmental effects of its business, not only by creating new and innovative products that consume less energy and water, but also by improving processes and using materials that minimize the impact on the planet,” the company said in a release.
Whirlpool recently announced its goal to make all of its electronically controlled appliances capable of receiving and responding to signals from smart grids by 2015.
