Whirlpool invests in American manufacturing
Whirlpool Corporation has just invested $80 million in two of its manufacturing facilities in Ohio, which promises to significantly expand its dishwasher and stand mixer output.
Whirlpool broke ground this week on a $40 million expansion project at its Findlay operations, and it's holding a ribbon cutting on Thursday to mark the completion of another $40 million project to expand operations at its Greenville, Ohio, facility.
The Findlay investment was announced back in February, which will add 86,400 sq. ft. to its existing dishwasher manufacturing operations, as well as 50 new jobs.
The Greenville project was announced back in 2014, which doubled the size of its operations (which include the production of KitchenAid stand mixers and attachments, hand mixers and blenders).
"These investments in our manufacturing facilities are examples of our ongoing commitment to American manufacturing and reinforce our belief that the state of Ohio serves as a manufacturing center of excellence for appliances," said James Keppler, VP integrated supply chain & quality Whirlpool Corporation. "As we celebrate the completion of our Greenville expansion, we're proud to break ground at our Findlay facility today and continue to invest in U.S. manufacturing and jobs."
Whirlpool has invested more than $1 billion in new facilities and plant upgrades since 2010. The company currently employs approximately 23,000 U.S. manufacturing workers, more than any other U.S.-based appliance manufacturer, says the company.
