Weyerhaeuser announces iLevel closures
Market conditions in the home-building industry have led Weyerhaeuser to the decision to close its iLevel veneer and engineered wood mills in Evergreen, Ala.; Dodson, La.; and Simsboro, La. A TimberStrand mill in Chavies, Ky., will also be shut down indefinitely.
The Federal Way, Wash.-based company also announced the permanent closures of iLevel business centers in Albuquerque, N.M.; Cincinnati and Columbus, Ohio; as well as Las Vegas and Reno, Nev.
Approximately 480 people will lose their jobs as a result of the closures, Weyerhaeuser said in the announcement. The company will continue to operate its other 26 building materials distribution branches.
Weyerhaeuser’s sales in 2008 were $8 billion, including its forest products and real estate construction and development divisions.
