Walmart bolsters home services
The world’s largest retailer now offers its online customers the option to purchase in-home installation and assembly services for merchandise, including furniture and electronics. The program is available through its partnership with home services provider Handy.
Back in March, Walmart introduced the program for customers in stores. Daniel Eckert, senior vice president, Walmart Services and Digital Acceleration, Walmart U.S. stated: “Our program with Handy enables us to eliminate the friction of installation and assembly, and offer customers a convenient, delightful experience from start to finish. We know Handy’s services are going to be a big help to our busy customers.”
There was even a Handy Happiness Guarantee. Last week, the company took the relationship into the digital realm.
Services include home improvement staples such as TV mounting, painting, picture and shelf hanging and smart-home-system installations.
Here’s how it works. While placing an online order, customers can simultaneously book an installation service. Shoppers can book an appointment between 7 am and 11 p.m., seven days a week, and are sent a confirmation email with booking details, according to the Handy.com page on Walmart’s website.
Customers can also reschedule their service by clicking the ‘Review Booking’ button embedded in their confirmation email, or through the Handy app. Customers can download the app for iOS or Android devices.
Services are currently limited to indoor projects, such as assembling furniture and mounting televisions, among other tasks. All services are guaranteed, according to Handy.
Walmart already offers the installation program in-store. The installation service has already facilitated over three million bookings nationwide, according to Walmart’s website.
