That’s one of the messages contained in a three-minute video on the Atlanta-based retailer’s investor relations page of its website. The video takes on increased interest with statements from CEO Craig Menear suggesting the company will build some 170 distribution centers of one kind or another. In an article in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Menear said the projects are part of an $11 billion infrastructure buying spree.

The video showcases automation, fast-moving packages and high-tech sorting equipment. In it, the company promotes three kinds of facilities that are crucial to its growth and its ability to meet the growing demands of customers.

  • Rapid deployment centers: The backbone of the system that handles most products in the Home Depot merchandise mix.

  • Direct fulfillment centers: To bring products to customers in 2 days or less. The vision is to transform distribution network to provide delivery in one day or less, nationwide.

  • Bulk distribution centers: Handling oversize products such as lumber and building materials and bath tubs.
