Versatex introduces 'Weathered Grey' trimboards
PVC product simulates pale color, matte surface and texture of upcycled cedar planks.
As architects, builders and luxury homeowners turn to rustic, vintage textures for outdoor ceilings that shelter entries, patios and decks, they face challenges.
Reclaimed materials like silvery-gray cedar can be maintenance-intensive, especially in warm, humid environments. Uniform quality can often be elusive while milling can destroy a coveted, sun-bleached surface when ordering matching profiles like crown and bed moulds.
Versatex Building Products says it has answers to all of these concerns with the latest addition to its Canvas Series of authentic-looking, wood-toned PVC trimboards.
Dubbed Weathered Grey, the new product closely simulates the pale color, matte surface and deep texture of upcycled cedar planks.
Wood-like workability and extra-high resistance to sunlight, moisture and heat distinguish all of the Canvas color options—Amber, Black Cherry, Macore and Walnut, as well as new Weathered Grey.
“The Canvas Series gives you a total system,” says Versatex spokesman Rick Kapres. “It starts with a solid core of premium cellular PVC wrapped in a tough, permanent woodgrain laminate that has proven itself in more than a decade of door and window applications.
“For easy installation and consistent appearance, we supply ½" x 6" Stealth T&G Beadboard and 1" x 6" WP4 profiles, with bed mould or 4" crown mouldings, for each Canvas color. To take care of minor fastener marks or unavoidable exposed edges onsite, we’ve even thought of handy, color-coordinated touch-up sticks.”
Canvas Series Stealth T&G Beadboard and WP4 profiles are sold in 18-foot lengths, while bed mould or 4" crown mouldings are sold in 16-foot lengths, all through Versatex distribution and dealer partners.
“No splinters, no knots, no messy staining,” says Mr. Kapres. “All of that saves cost and time for the builder. And that maintenance-free future, coupled with lasting beauty, is just what the homeowner is looking for.”
Weather-resistant, long-lasting Versatex trim materials and systems are manufactured by Versatex Building Products, LLC, of Pittsburgh, Pa.
