Valspar names president and COO to board

Paint and coatings manufacturer Valspar has announced that its board of directors elected Gary Hendrickson, the company’s president and chief operating officer, to the board.

“Gary is a proven business leader who has made substantial contributions to the development and execution of Valspar’s growth strategy,” said William Mansfield, chairman and CEO. “His election to the board recognizes his experience and deep knowledge of global coatings markets and the importance of his leadership."

Hendrickson was appointed president and chief operating officer in February 2008 and is responsible for Valspar’s international and domestic operating units. Previously, he was senior VP, with responsibility for the company’s architectural and global wood coatings businesses and Asia Pacific Region. He joined Valspar’s packaging business in 1994 after 11 years in the U.S. Navy. He was appointed president, Valspar Asia Pacific in 1999.
