UFP introduces charred wood boards
It’s now easier for contractors and dealers to offer customers the stunning look of charred wood, according to Universal Forest Products.
UFP-Edge, a brand of Universal Forest Products, has introduced Charred Wood in shiplap and board profiles. It's a burnt-wood product for interior applications.
“Burnt-wood products are growing quickly in popularity,” said Mark Deremo, director of category marketing, construction materials at Universal Forest Products. “Now, with UFP-Edge Charred Wood, contractors and dealers throughout the country can offer the beautiful look of Charred Wood to their customers.”
Charring wood is an ancient Japanese technique — an art known as “shou-sugi-ban” — that preserves wood by exposing it to a heat treatment. Thanks to the process, Charred Wood from UFP-Edge offers a distinct wood-grain pattern and texture. Charred Wood is sealed with a satin clear-coat finish.
Shiplap and board profile options make Charred Wood perfect for a spectrum of interior design projects such as:
• Accent walls
• Ceilings
• Column and beam wraps
• Wainscoting
• Art and craft projects
The 1x6-inch shiplap allows for easy installation on virtually any interior wall or ceiling. Matching 1x4-inch trim and 1x6 boards offer complements for shiplap framing, but can also be used alone for custom projects.
