Tractor Supply looks to hire

4/7/2020
Tractor Supply Company continues to make moves while stores remain open and essential during the coronavirus pandemic.

The Brentwood, Tenn.-based farm and ranch retailer announced that it will hire 5,000 full-time and part-time associates across its 1,863 stores.

Additionally, the company has added dedicated greeters to all of its locations. Greeters are emphasizing social distancing, monitoring the number of customers in a store, and providing additional cleaning for shopping carts and registers.

According to Tractor Supply, the hiring initiative represents opportunities in existing and new positions with a focus on increased customer service and safety in stores.

“At Tractor Supply, our top priority is the health and safety of our team members and customers,” said Tractor Supply President and CEO, Hal Lawton. ”We have executed a number of actions over the past three weeks, and today we are announcing additional changes that allow us to better serve our customers’ needs during this time of crisis.”

Other measures include “contactless” curbside pickup with dedicated parking for “Buy Online, Pickup in Store” as the company completes a nationwide rollout of “Buy Online Same Day/Next Day Delivery.” Tractor Supply has installed plexiglass barriers at cashier stands in stores and expedited the rollout of contactless payment options, such as Apple Pay, as well.

“We are continuing to implement numerous measures to promote social distancing in our stores and rapidly provide personal protective equipment to team members,” Lawton said. “I can’t thank the Tractor Supply team enough for all they have accomplished in the last few weeks. I am incredibly proud of how they have responded to take care of each other and serve our customers.”

A $2 per hour appreciation bonus for employees has been extended from April 25 to May 9 with associates being covered 100% for COVID-19 medical treatment. The company has also waived the cost-sharing for telehealth visits under the company’s medical plan.

Previously, Tractor Supply provided a one-time special bonus of $1,000 to exempt store managers and $500 for “frontline leadership” and support roles while extending paid sick leave.
