Tractor Supply highlights stewardship achievements
Tractor Supply Company has released its 2018 Stewardship Report, highlighting the company’s commitment to being a more environmentally sustainable company.
The report also highlights the company’s best practices when it comes to giving back to the community.
“At Tractor Supply, we are proud of the growth both our company and our Stewardship Program have experienced over the past 10 years,” said Ben Parrish, EVP, general counsel and corporate secretary of Tractor Supply, “We believe being good stewards involves far more than minimizing our environmental impact.
The program was launched in 2008 and the Brentwood, Tenn.-based retailer says it continues to invest in projects that reduced its impact on the environment.
“We know that our customers, team members, shareholders and other stakeholders care deeply about what companies do for their communities, for their people and for the planet, and as we look to the future, we will continue to prioritize finding ways to efficiently manage our resources, reduce our environmental impact and give back,” Parrish said.
Highlights from 2018 include saving 103 million kilowatt hours the company’s energy management system while 1,765 stores operated with LED lighting. Tractor Supply also collected 92,786 gallons from customers for recycling along with 646,267 batteries.
Additionally, Tractor Supply recycled 5 million wood pallets and 25,586 tons of cardboard.
When it comes to giving back, Tractor Supply continued to provide national and local community support through longstanding partnerships with both 4-H and FFA organizations. Nearly $2 million was raised for local 4-H Clubs through the bi-annual “Paper Clover” events with 90% of the money remaining in the state where it was collected.
More than $830,000 was also raised for FFA chapters across the country through the “Grants for Growing” program. Funds are used by more than 30,000 high school students to purchase supplies for projects such as greenhouses, research farms and outdooring learning centers.
Tractor Supply also facilitated the adoption of over 18,000 pets through community events.
In late 2018, the company’s new distribution center in Frankfort, N.Y. was completed. Tractor Supply said the facility was designed and built to meet high energy efficiency and environmental standards.
The Company is seeking LEED Silver certification by the U.S. Green Building Council for the facility, and if certified by the Council, the distribution center would be the third Tractor Supply Company facility to achieve LEED Silver certification.
