Throwback Thursday: Testimonial edition
The April 25, 1977 issue of National Home Center News, the forerunner of HBSDealer, included a testimonial from the dapper Ray H. Cooney, president and chief operating officer of Scotty’s, Inc., the Winter Haven, Fla.-based home center chain.
Among his comments:
In 1976, Scotty’s Inc.’s 54 retail stores and 5 surplus outlets did $85 million in sales. The company went out of business in 2005.
Among his comments:
- “I read National Home Center News because it brings me the kind of industry news I need .. and simplifies it so that I can get it in a hurry.”
- “Our lives are too complicated for difficult approaches ... I take my hat off to you ... National Home Center News is the most easily read trade journal in the business ... a great publication … I never miss an issue.”
