In this year’s power tool spread, we’re still bringing products front and center, but with a nod to the juicy news: In 2016, we’ve seen just about every major power tool company release a new-and-improved, highly competitive battery (and sometimes with bells and whistles, too).

DeWalt FlexVolt 12″ Sliding Compound Miter Saw
DeWalt has been promoting its new FlexVolt system, which features a battery that changes voltage as the user changes tools. Powered by the high efficiency of FlexVolt, this miter saw can be used for cross-cut, vertical and nested crown cutting applications. (dewalt.com)
Dremel Velocity
This all-in-one cutting solution is nine times faster than standard oscillating tools, Dremel says. A patented high-torque mechanism allows users to make plunge cuts, remove grout and finish sanding in less time. (dremel.com)
WORX 12 Amp Turbine 600 Blower
This new electric blower from WORX is 7.5 times more powerful than its AIR 20-volt model (with a maximum air volume of 600 cubic feet per minute). That’s 35% more air volume than competing units at a comparable price point. (worx.com)
Cuz-D Straight Flush Saw

Makita 18V LXT Lithium-Ion 6.0Ah Battery
Makita’s new fast-charging battery runs twice as long as the Makita 3.0Ah LXT battery, but it only charges in 55 minutes. Adding to the sell: it manages to do so with the same weight and dimensions as lower-capacity batteries. (makitatools.com)
Stihl AR 3000 Backpack Battery
Battery, meet wearable. The idea behind Stihl’s recent invention was to minimize downtime and improve comfort. The 36-volt, 1148 watt-hour battery has 25% more capacity than the Stihl AR 900: a runtime of up to 13 hours. (stihlusa.com)
Black + Decker Smartech Lithium Ion Cordless Vacuum
Who says power tools can’t make light work of dust and messes? Equipped with the Smartech battery, this vacuum features AutoSense, FilterSense, and BatterySense, allowing it to know (and adjust its power levels according to) the type of surface it’s cleaning – plus keep track of filter and battery status.
