Target celebrates opening of 42 stores
Target opened 42 new stores on Sunday, bringing the big-box retailer’s total United States store count to 1,537.
The company held grand opening celebrations for all its newly opened stores on July 29.
The locations included seven stores in California, five stores in Florida, four in Pennsylvania and further locations in Alabama, Ohio, Virginia, Texas, Wisconsin, Massachusetts, Arizona, Colorado and New Jersey.
In its most recent monthly earnings statement, Target said its net retail sales for the five weeks ended July 7 increased 7.6 percent to $5.5 billion from $5.1 billion for the same five-week period last year. Comparable-store sales increased 3.3 percent.
