Stat of the Week: Decking demand

U.S. residential decking demand by value reached $3.2 billion in net manufacturer revenue in 2019. Repair & replacement (R&R) drove 95% of decking demand by value. 

Decks built on homes where no deck existed previously (R&R Addition) represented 20% of decking demand in 2019. In a recent survey of homeowners, owners of a home less than 10 years old were twice as likely to build a deck where no deck existed previously as those in a home 10-20 years old, and three times as likely as those in a home 20-30 years old.
