SRS continues to boom
It might still be early for 2019, but SRS Distribution continues to expand at a rapid pace while demonstrating there is little hesitation on the roofing products and building supply distributor’s part when it comes to acquisitions and new openings.
The McKinney, Texas-based company has acquired Roofing Products & Building Supply, an independent distributor of residential and commercial roofing products, siding, and brick based in Jefferson, La. The company also maintains locations in Baton Rouge, Covington and Houma. Terms of this deal were not disclosed by SRS.
Additionally, SRS has opened three new locations in the southeast.
Founded in 1958, Roofing Products & Building Supply has 45 employees who will remain with the company, including the sales and operations teams. SRS will continue to operate the roofing-focused branches under the Roofing Products brand alongside the broader building products-focused Advanced Building Products locations, the company said.
“Roofing Products is a company we have long admired and getting to know Vincent personally for over a decade makes this a special opportunity. Roofing Products perfectly complements our existing Advanced Building Products footprint and together they form the preeminent roofing platform in Southern Louisiana with eight total locations across the market,” said Dan Tinker, president and CEO of SRS Distribution.
SRS operates 28 brands across more than 250 locations in 44 states and is a portfolio company of Leonard Green & Partners, L.P. and Berkshire Partners LLC.
Just days before the acquisition, SRS announced that it had opened three new greenfield locations in Chipley, Fla.; Jacksonville, N.C.; and Summerville, S.C. Each location carries a full line of residential and commercial roofing products with a focus on servicing professional roofing contractors, remodelers, and local home builders.
The Chipley location is operating under the Suncoast Roofers Supply banner and is the company’s second location in the Florida Panhandle. Superior Distribution’s newest location in Jacksonville boosts the company’s presence in eastern North Carolina with additional expansion opportunities underway, SRS said. The Summerville location is operating under the Atlantic Roofing Distributors banner and marks SRS’s second active location in the Charleston market.
“We are thrilled to announce the opening of three greenfield locations to kick-off the year,” Tinker said, noting that – as expected – SRS is far from finished with expansion plans in 2019.
“We are committed to accelerating growth throughout 2019 thanks to dozens of exciting expansion opportunities planned across the country,” Tinker commented.
During the first week of February SRS acquired AAC Building Materials (AAC), a roofing and building products distributor based in Asheville, N.C.
SRS preceded the acquisition with the formation of a new subsidiary – Heritage Landscape Supply Group, Inc., which has already made two acquisitions of its own in 2019.
