2/20/2018

Spectrum Brands Holdings, a global consumer products company, today reported record performance for the second quarter.

Net sales of $1.21 billion were up 13.4%, while net income jumped 170.5% to $75.2 million.

“Our solid second-quarter results, together with our strong first quarter, gives us an excellent first half and momentum to deliver a seventh consecutive year of record performance in fiscal 2016,” said Andreas Rouvé, CEO of Spectrum Brands Holdings. “Home and Garden and HHI delivered record results and, regionally, there were solid performances in the U.S. as well as in Europe and Latin America on a currency neutral basis.”

The Home and Garden segment reported record second-quarter results. Fiscal 2016 second-quarter net sales of $155.0 million increased 25.1% compared with $123.9 million in last year’s second quarter. Strong growth in the repellent and household controls categories, as well as increased sales in the lawn and garden controls category, resulted from favorable weather, the impact of the Zika virus, strong early season retailer orders and market share gains.

The Home and Garden segment reported second-quarter net income of $39.8 million versus $28.0 million a year ago.

Among the company's brands are Kwikset, Baldwin, National Hardware, Nature’s Miracle, Rayovac and Spectracide.

The Global Pet Supplies segment reported net sales of $208.5 million in the second quarter of fiscal 2016 compared with $209.8 million last year.
