Simpson Strong-Tie introduces new retrofit post base

Simpson Strong-Tie has released a new RPBZ retrofit post base to reinforce new or existing post-base connections for outdoor structures (think braced cartports, patio covers and trellises).

The base fits any post sized double 2x4 or larger and should be installed on concrete or wood with Simpson Strong-Tie fasteners or anchors. 

The RPBZ base also features a ZMAX corrosion-resistant coating for exterior and preservative-treated wood applications.

Another not-so-hidden benefit: flexibility, especially insofar as installation and applications go.

For posts that are flush to a corner, a single RPBZ can be installed; alternatively, two RPBZs can be installed away from edges. For 1" post standoff code requirements, RPBZs can be installed with a CPS composite plastic standoff.

Alternatively, the RPBZ can function as a temporary base fixture for shoring beams when remodeling or for securing temporary structures.
