A second Lowe’s worker killed

2/20/2018

A Lowe’s employee was killed in a storage facility in Charlotte, N.C., right across the parking lot from one of the retailer’s stores, according to an article in the Charlotte Observer. The 35-year-old man was standing under a garage door when it suddenly fell and hit him on the head at 11 a.m. on June 4.

A spokesperson for the company told the media that no customers or other employees were involved. Police homicide detectives were investigating, as were investigators from the N.C. Department of Labor, which enforces workplace safety.

This is the second workplace fatality at Lowe’s in less than a month. On May 20, a Lowe’s employee in Enterprise, Ala., was pinned between a delivery truck and a trailer and was airlifted to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries. Federal authorities from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) are looking into the incident.
