Sears expands its ride with Uber
Sears Holdings and Uber are expanding its Rider Rewards program to 23 new markets.
The service, which launched this fall in New York City and Chicago, enabled members of Sears Shop Your Way loyalty program to link their memberships to their Uber accounts. Every Uber ride they take earns them $2 in loyalty points.
More than 10,000 Shop Your Way loyalty members have linked their accounts — a move that earned them more than $250,000 in points in just over two months, according to Sears. Points can be redeemed online or in-store at Sears, Kmart, Lands' End, or shopyourway.com, on a wide assortment of products, gifts and popular brands.
"Expanding the program during the holiday season is especially timely because we know members are using Uber to shop," said Leena Munjal, senior VP, customer experience and integrated retail, Sears Holdings. “We've had some riders already earn more than $300 in points, and Black Friday was the biggest points-issuing day in November.”
To build more excitement around the program, Shop Your Way and Uber launched a sweepstakes that awards a total of $10,000 in points every month to riders that link their Uber account to Shop Your Way. Every time they ride, members are automatically registered. Overall, the partners plan to choose 1,000 winners. In addition, Shop Your Way members who are new to Uber will receive their first trip free, up to $15, and $5 in points.
Drivers can also take advantage of the program, and earn up to $1,000 in certain markets. Sears Auto Centers are also an Uber Preferred Maintenance partner — a perk that rewards drivers and partners with discounts on oil changes and labor services.
