Sales rise at Beacon Roofing

2/20/2018

Beacon Roofing Supply, one of the nation’s largest distributors of roofing, siding and other exterior building products, reported sales of $319.3 million for its second fiscal quarter, a 4.9% rise over sales of $304.3 million in the same quarter of 2008.

Residential roofing sales increased 37.2% during the quarter, helped by year-over-year price increases and re-roofing activities in areas impacted by Hurricane Ike. Commercial roofing declined 12.6% due, in part, to adverse weather conditions in many of the company’s markets. Sales in the complementary products category, which includes siding, windows, decking, specialty lumber, and air barrier and waterproofing systems, declined 27.1%. Lower levels of new construction and the slowdown in the economy affected these results.

The company’s net loss for the second quarter was $2.4 million, compared with an $8.1 million loss in the corresponding period of 2008.

Headquartered in Peabody, Mass., Beacon Roofing Supply ranked eighth, with $1.6 billion in sales, on the Home Channel News Top 350 Pro Dealer List in 2008. The company operates 169 branches in 35 states in the United States and three provinces in Eastern Canada.
