Roseburg reorganizes into regional divisions
Roseburg Forest Products announced that it has reorganized its manufacturing operations oversight structure, moving away from product line divisions and toward a geographic and functional support system of organization.
Senior Vice President of Operations Jake Elston said that effective immediately all Roseburg plants in North America will be grouped in Western and Eastern teams, each overseen by its own manufacturing director.
"This new organizational structure will help Roseburg's operations achieve greater alignment in high-priority areas, such as safety, work environment, environmental compliance, reliability, continuous improvement and ongoing cultural change," Elston said. "These are win-win issues for our communities, our team members and our business as a whole."
The announcement follows the recent new structure for Roseburg’s sales, marketing and logistics functions, overseen by SVP – Chief Commercial Officer Ashlee Cribb.
The combined restructuring eliminates the distinction between the company’s industrial and structural products divisions, and instead focuses on building cross-functional relationships between teams, Roseburg said.
Tony Ramm is now director of manufacturing – Western Region. He will oversee Roseburg manufacturing facilities located in the Western U.S., including plywood plants in Dillard, Riddle, and Coquille, Ore.; a sawmill and composites plant also in Dillard; an engineered wood products plant in Riddle; an MDF plant in Medford, Ore.; and a veneer plant in Weed, Calif.

Mike Reardon has been named director of manufacturing – Eastern Region. He will oversee Roseburg manufacturing facilities located in the Eastern portion of North America, including composites plants in Missoula, Mont., Simsboro, La., and Taylorsville, Miss.; MDF plants in El Dorado, Ark., and Pembroke, Ontario, Canada; and an engineered wood plant currently under construction in Chester, S.C.
Bob Jewell has been named director of continuous improvement and optimization. This newly created role will focus on continuous improvement, benchmarking, goal setting, and optimization, the Springfield, Ore.-based company said.
Steve Courtney will continues as procurement director for the operations group, with added responsibility for veneer purchasing for all plants.
A newly created Director of Reliability position will oversee resources dedicated to EAM and best practices in asset care and reliability. A search for this management position will take place internally and externally.
