REPORT: Home Depot Plant City distribution center moves ahead
Municipal officials in Plant City, Fla. have approved a seven year tax break that paves the way for a new The Home Depot distribution center.
According to a report by the Tampa Bay Business Journal, The Home Depot plans to build an 800,000-square-foot distribution center in Plant City, roughly 30 miles east of Tampa.
The project is part of the retailer’s pursuit of same-day and next-day delivery service in metro areas. In total, The Home Depot expects to spend as much as $11 billion to speed-up its delivery abilities in metro regions across the country.
The new center will create at least 150 new jobs in Plant City with the possibility of more than 340 positions. In total, the project is estimated at total capital of investment of nearly $65 million.
