REPORT: Ganahl Lumber employee killed in yard accident
An employee at the Ganahl Lumber Company location in Costa Mesa, Calif. was killed on Dec. 20 after being struck and trapped by a pile of lumber, according to a report by the Los Angles Times.
The Orange County coroner’s office identified the victim as Ricardo Castorena, 28, of Santa Ana.
Captain Joe Noceti of the Costa Mesa Fire & Rescue Department told the Los Angeles Times that a pile of lumber shifted off its base and tipped over, with "several thousand pounds" of lumber pinning Costorena against a forklift.
Paramedics pronounced Costorena dead within minutes after their arrival on the scene.
Ganahl Lumber could not be reached for comment.
The company operates 10 locations in Southern California.
