REPORT: 84 Lumber closes Central New York location
84 Lumber has shut down its location in Baldwinsville, N.Y.
Located about 13 miles outside of Syracuse, the store served the Central New York region.
84 Lumber also maintains a store - known as is its "DeWitt" location - about 20 miles from Baldwinsville in East Syracuse, N.Y.
"We are always evaluating our stores and in order to increase efficiency, we have decided to consolidate Baldwinsville into our Dewitt, N.Y. location and the rest of the Rochester market," Amy Smiley, 84 Lumber vice president of marketing, told HBSDealer.
According to a report by Syracuse.com, most of the Baldwinsville yard’s contents had been sold or moved with a clearance sale sign posted at the location.
The pro dealer has also removed the store from its website and has taken down the yard’s individual Facebook page.
Based in Eighty Four, Pa., 84 Lumber operates about 250 locations in 30 states.
"This is always a difficult decision but it is the best thing for the health of the company. 84 Lumber looks forward to the bright future ahead with our expansion plans into the western part of the United States," Simley said.
