Remembered: Ned Wolf of Do it Best

Ned Wolf, who retired as Do it Best Corp.'s VP of purchasing in 1995, died Friday in Fort Wayne, Ind. He was 88.

Wolf was the younger brother of Do it Best President Emeritus Don Wolf, who died in September.

For 47 years, Ned Wolf worked at the Fort Wayne, Ind.-based hardware co-op, where he was known for his negotiating skills with vendors and his ability to help create sales opportunities for members. He retired three years before the co-op changed its name in 1998 from "Hardware Wholesalers Inc." to "Do it Best Corp."

Early in his hardware career, he met his wife, Katherine, at the co-op. They were married in 1952.
