Readers Respond: Regulatory bogeymen, ranked

The business lobby is well familiar with the "ease the regulatory burden" war cry.

But of all the various packages this threat comes in, which is the most threatening to the residential building industry?

Earlier this week, HBSDealer asked of its readers: "Which regulatory issue is the biggest concern to your business?"

The votes are still coming in, but so far, the Affordable Care Act appears to be the biggest thorn in the side of our readership, taking away 33% of the 86 votes recorded at press time.

In a close second at 29% is the Department of Labor's overtime proposal, though a separate poll on the overtime rule shows that the majority of HBSDealer readers agree with the legislation.

Minimum wage hikes is at 20%, and "tax hikes in general" are afflicting 12% of voters the worst.
