Readers Respond: Possible product shortages

In many cases, progress involves trading one set of problems for a different (but better) one. With the housing market proceeding through its recovery, some dealers may already be feeling the pinch of product shortages, for instance.

Last week, we polled our readers to find out whether supply would be called into question as demand continues to rise.

Though 17% said "it's already happening here at the local level," the majority of respondents agreed it was a tossup: 52% said "it depends on the region and/or product category."

A smaller amount -- 31% -- were confident that "there's plenty supply where that demand came from."
