Readers Respond: Permissive permits?

Depending on one's region, the building permit process can be somewhere between "extremely efficient" and "problematically drawn out."

For many HBSDealer readers, it seems that more often than not, delays are insignificant.

In a reader poll earlier this week, we asked: "How long does it take for building permits to be issued in your area?"

Though the sample size was very small, the most popular answer was "Minimal delays: it's not an issues for us," taking 50% of the vote.

However, the rest of the votes were somewhat split:

Moderate delays. The process is slowing down, unfortunately: 22%

Major delays. Something needs to be done. It’s taking months: 28%
