Readers Respond: Abolish the HUD?

Back in 2012, Mitt Romney recommended that the federal government should abolish the Department of Housing and Urban Development.

On the most recent 60 Minutes episode, the Libertarian Party candidates Gary Johnson and Bill Weld called for the elimination of – among other federal departments – the Department of Housing and Urban Development.

HUD’s mission, as stated on it the Hud.gov web site is partly to “create strong, sustainable, inclusive communities and quality affordable homes for all.”
