Read and Respond: Forklift Accidents

Don’t be fooled by the slapstick nature of the videos below. Forklift accidents are dangerous and deadly. And they’re way too common.

According to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, there were 85 fatalities related to forklift accidents in 2015. In that same year, there were 96,785 accidents — almost 35,000 of which resulted in serious injury.  

Also according to OSHA, 70% of all forklift accidents could be avoided with proper training and the proper policies in place.

The following videos represent some of the milder violence that is available to anyone who has a few minutes to type “forklift accident” into a popular search engine.
