Propane-powered string trimmer honored by EPA
The Eco Trimmer by Lehr, the first propane-powered string trimmer, was recognized by the EPA recently with a Clean Air Excellence Award.
The environmentally friendly product, which has been available in stores nationwide since January, is powered by camping-style propane canisters. The company said propane creates up to 70% fewer smog-producing hydrocarbons and emits 96% fewer cancer-causing carcinogens than gasoline.
The Eco Trimmer is available at Sears under the Sears Craftsman powered by Lehr label, as well as Home Depot, True Value and Do it Best stores.
Lehr plans to introduce an Eco Blower in September and a gas-free lawn mower at a future date.
“It’s time to start caring for green spaces with green technology,” said Captain Bernardo J. Herzer, Lehr founder and CEO. “Propane is key to the Eco Trimmer and our forthcoming Eco Series of lawn and garden tools because it is so much easier on the environment than gasoline.”
