ProBuild to close Wisconsin lumberyard, truss plant

2/20/2018

ProBuild has notified the state of Wisconsin that it intends to close its lumberyard, truss plant and millwork facility in Racine, Wis. In a July 22 filing with the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development, the Denver-based LBM chain gave its 60-day notice, which will affect 42 workers.

ProBuild purchased the operation, formerly known as Big Buck Building Centers, in July 2008. In addition to serving Wisconsin, Big Buck also shipped building materials, wood and steel trusses into the Chicago market, where ProBuild has recently expanded by taking over several leases resulting from Stock Building Supply bankruptcy reorganization. These former Seigle Home & Building Center locations include a 23-acre facility with a lumberyard, truss and wall manufacturing plant that can serve residential and commercial builders.

ProBuild is the industry’s largest pro dealer, with approximately 470 locations in 42 states.
