ProBuild announces restructuring

2/20/2018

ProBuild Holdings has announced an organizational restructuring that will reduce overhead costs and impose a more regional structure on its far-reaching network of lumberyards and component plants. The company’s four divisions – north, south, east, and west – will be divided into six regions, with various ProBuild executives tapped to change locations and assume leadership roles.

The announcement made no mention of staff cutbacks or closed locations, but Carolyn Atkinson, a ProBuild spokeswoman, told Home Channel News that the reorganization "will result in a shift of some jobs to Denver."  Those who cannot relocate, she said, will be offered the opportunity to apply for other positions in the company. In March of 2008, ProBuild reported its number of locations at more than 560. According to the restructuring announcement, the company now operates more than 470 outlets, a difference of roughly 90 units.

“We can drive millions of dollars out of daily operations by consolidating and centralizing redundant functions that we currently perform both at region and at corporate levels,” said Paul Hylbert, ProBuild’s CEO.

Bill Myrick, ProBuild’s chief operating officer, said that the “shared services” model and smaller geographical areas will “increase customer responsiveness” by moving sales and operations functions closer to similar groups of customers.

Ed Waite, former president of Spenard Builders Supply, will lead the Northwest region headquartered in Lacey, Wash. Joe Lawrence, the former president of Dixieline Lumber will lead the Southwest region. Jim Cavanaugh, former president of the South region, will lead the new South Central region headquartered in Tulsa, Okla. Doug Ossefoort, former president of the North region, will lead the new Midwest region headquartered in Winona, Minn. Buddy Ables, former president of the East region, will lead the new Southeast region and will establish a new region headquarters in Atlanta, Ga. Joe Todd, president of market development, will also serve as newly named president of the Northeast region and will establish a new region headquarters in Morristown, N.J. Joe Todd will also retain responsibility for developing national builders accounts.

ProBuild was ranked first in the Home Channel News’ Top 350 Pro Dealer Scoreboard in 2008.
