Principia Stat of the Week: Siding demand

Architectural styles vary by region across the United States, resulting in different siding materials selected. According to recent research, the three most common home styles are Ranch, Traditional, and Colonial.

  • Vinyl leads the market with 28% of national demand volume, and is commonly found northern and midwestern states where Ranch and Colonial styles with lap siding are prevalent.

  • Stucco, accounting for 10% of national demand volume, is more prevalent in regions where Mediterranean, Spanish Mission, and Pueblo/ Adobe architecture styles are common, such as in the West and Southwest.

  • Brick, most commonly found in the South where Traditional style is most common, is 11% of national demand volume.
