Poll Results: Here's Amazon Prime Day
Amazon Prime Day sales are set for July 15-16. That's a pretty big deal in e-commerce circles. But for respondents of the latest HBSDealer poll question -- not so much.
The majority of the readers say it will be business as usual on July 15-16 during the annual Amazon sales event. Another 15% responded: "What is Prime Day?"
On the other hand, 11% of readers checked the box for "We'll be offering 'epic' deals of our own."
One example of a company throwing it's own e-commerce holiday is Ace Hardware. The co-op unveiled its first ever Ace Rewards Day to coincide with the Prime Day event. Ace is offering exclusive deals to Ace Rewards members July 15-16 on Acehardware.com.
“We proudly recognize our Ace Rewards members and are thrilled to offer free delivery and great deals on this special shopping day as thanks for their continued loyalty,” said Bill Kiss, Head of Digital, Retail and Innovation Strategy for Ace Hardware Corporation. “We are also excited to have new Ace Rewards members join and discover all the Rewards’ program has to offer starting with special deals, coupons, and convenient shopping experiences both in-store and online at AceHardware.com.”
Last year’s Prime Day event made headlines for a technical glitch that temporarily crashed the site. But at the end of the day — or more accurately, in the early morning hours of the next day — Prime Day generated more than $4 billion in sales, the largest yet.
Amazon’s effort spurred competition. Lowe’s, Ace and True Value were among those company’s promoting one-day cyber deals coinciding with Prime Day. (Read the article here.)
