The latest regulation to draw the ire of small business owners is the Department of Labor’s proposed overtime regulations. Here’s some background on the DOL’s proposal, with advice on what to do next.


The new overtime rule, which goes into effect Dec. 1, 2016, increases the threshold for overtime eligibility, with the qualifying salary level jumping from $455 per week ($23,360 annually) all the way to $913 per week ($47,476 annually).


The National Lumber and Building Material Dealers Association says it isn’t giving up its effort to oppose and curtail the rules.
