According to the Manufactured Housing Institute, 22 million people live in manufactured homes. And the same source estimates that 10% of new home starts fall in the category of manufactured housing.
The manufactured housing industry garnered the interest of none other than Amazon.com, which recently announced an investment in Plant Prefab – a Rialto, Calif.-based prefabrication company.
Plant Prefab manufactures custom single and multi-family homes that are “high-quality, sustainable, healthy and durable,” the company says, noting that it’s the first home factory in the nation focused on sustainable construction, materials, processes, and operations.
